Competency Description

Determining how learners will engage with instructional materials is a standard part of the course development process. In this competency, you will be introduced to effective research-based practices that support online learning and help to ensure that learning activities are aligned with objectives. You will also learn how to create activity rubrics and gain insight into their value for both students and instructors.

This course is also available in the Student Experience Track.

You will have six months to complete this competency and can review the materials at any time during this period. If you wish to access these resources after the six months, you will need to re-enroll.

Competency Outcomes

Upon completion of this competency you will be able to:

  • Identify effective, research-based online practices.
  • Determine whether assignments and course artifacts meet the course and/or module objectives and needs of the client and program.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of rubrics designed for course activities and assessments.
